Pianist, conductor, and composer Mikhail Pletnev, one of the most respected and influential artists of our time, will appear at the Eurasian Stars International Music Festival 2025. Renowned for his prodigious talent, artistic vision, and musical versatility, Pletnev’s performances promise to be a cornerstone of this year’s festival.

Celebrated worldwide since winning First Prize at the 1978 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition at the age of 21, Pletnev has inspired audiences with his artistry for more than four decades. His distinguished career reflects not only his brilliance as a pianist but also his profound contributions as a conductor, composer, and cultural leader.

In 1990, Pletnev founded the Russian National Orchestra, the first independent orchestra in Russian history, which rapidly gained recognition as one of the world’s great ensembles. More recently, he renewed his commitment to artistic freedom with the creation of the Rachmaninoff International Orchestra, honoring the legendary pianist, composer, and conductor whose legacy continues to inspire musicians around the globe.

Pletnev’s discography is equally remarkable. His recordings have earned him international acclaim, including a Grammy Award in 2005 for his own arrangement of Prokofiev’s Cinderella, Grammy nominations for Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes (2004) and the Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev Piano Concertos No. 3 (2003), as well as a Gramophone Award in 1996 for his album of Scarlatti Sonatas. His complete Beethoven symphonies and piano concertos, released on Deutsche Grammophon, was hailed as “Best of 2007” by The New Yorker.

Beyond his awards and accolades, Pletnev has always defined himself simply as a musician, with a lifelong dedication to dismantling barriers through the universal language of music. His artistry, deeply rooted in tradition yet unfailingly personal, has made him one of the defining figures of modern classical performance.

As the Eurasian Stars International Music Festival 2025 unfolds from September 22 to October 3, Mikhail Pletnev’s performances will embody the festival’s spirit of cultural exchange and artistic excellence. Festival audiences can look forward to an unforgettable encounter with an artist whose influence and artistry have shaped the course of classical music in our era.
