Eurasian Stars Shifts Focus to Chamber Music with Haik Kazazyan, Alexander Ramm and Philipp Kopachevsky

Following a succession of spectacular orchestral concerts, the 2026 Eurasian Stars International Music Festival turned its attention to the world of chamber music on Sunday 18th October, presenting an evening of outstanding performances at the Alisher Navoi State Academic Grand Theatre in Tashkent.

The penultimate concert of the festival's 2026 edition brought together three internationally acclaimed musicians: Armenian violinist Haik Kazazyan, distinguished cellist Alexander Ramm, and celebrated pianist Philipp Kopachevsky, who joined forces for a programme featuring compositions by Alexey Shor and Felix Mendelssohn.

Offering a change of pace from the large-scale symphonic performances that have characterised much of this year's festival, the concert placed the expressive possibilities of the piano trio at its centre, allowing audiences to experience the close musical dialogue and intricate interplay between three instruments.

The evening began with Alexey Shor's Piano Trio No. 2, a three-movement composition adapted from the composer's own Concerto for Violin and Cello. Retaining the energetic character and lyrical qualities of the original work, the trio explores the musical relationships between violin, cello, and piano, with each instrument contributing its own distinctive voice to the composition.

The programme then continued with Mendelssohn's celebrated Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, one of the most beloved works in the chamber music repertoire. Combining passionate melodic writing with passages of delicate lyricism and virtuosity, the composition provided an excellent showcase for the three musicians' technical abilities and artistic communication.

Reflecting on the concert, Eurasian Stars Artistic Director Alibek Kabdurakhmanov remarked that "chamber music has a very special place within the classical repertoire, and we wanted to make sure that this year's festival offered audiences the opportunity to experience it alongside our orchestral concerts. Haik, Alexander, and Philipp are all exceptional musicians, and it was wonderful to see them come together for such an engaging programme. This kind of variety is an important part of what makes Eurasian Stars such a rewarding experience for our audiences."

With eight performances now completed, the 2026 edition of Eurasian Stars is approaching its conclusion, having welcomed leading international soloists and conductors to Tashkent for a series of concerts celebrating both contemporary compositions and the great masterpieces of classical music.

The festival will conclude on Monday 19th October, with Kazazyan and Ramm returning to the stage alongside the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan for a grand orchestral finale.
