Eurasian Stars International Music Festival 2025: Conductors Announced
A groundbreaking concert series in Uzbekistan bringing together a lineup of renowned soloists, leading conductors and the celebrated National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan for a succession of performances celebrating the beauty of classical music, the Eurasian Stars International Music Festival is scheduled to make a grand return to Tashkent from 22 September to 3 October, 2025.
The 7th iteration of the festival, helmed by President Konstantin Ishkhanov, is a highlight of the region’s classical music calendar and is scheduled to bring together some of the biggest musical stars in the world. Among them are illustrious conductors Sergey Smbatyan and Alibek Kabdurakhmanov, all set to showcase their virtuosity, presenting traditional and contemporary classical works on one of the world’s most dazzling stages.
Artistic Director of the Eurasian Stars International Music Festival, Uzbekistan's very own Alibek Kabdurakhmanov is a masterful conductor who has worked with prestigious ensembles like the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, State Academic Symphony Orchestra Almaty and Youth Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, among many others. The maestro has participated in many festivals including the International Contemporary Music Festival "Turbulence", 33 International festival "Moscow Autumn" Sessions of the Youth Orchestra of the World (JMWO), International Festival “Musical Summer Evenings”, International Festival "Euro-Orchestra", International festival “Drums of the World”, International "Easter Festival", and International festival "Ilkhom-XX". He has also received numerous awards, including being a Laureate of the Tasanno Prize in the Field of Culture in 2005 and 2007, winning the Grand Prix at the Shabyt International Competition in 2007, and earning a special prize for "best performance with an orchestra" at the International Competition "EMCY Art for Music Prize" in 2006, etc.
On the other hand, Sergey Smbatyan is the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and the Principal Conductor of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. A passionate advocate for classical music, the conductor has extensive international experience, promoting the revival of classical music and contemporary classical compositions around the world. He serves as Artistic Director of several annual music festivals, such as the Khachaturyan International Competition and has initiated a variety of educational and cultural programs implemented by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra to foster artistic development among the younger generation. In recent concert seasons, he has performed as a guest conductor with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra of Bratislava and other orchestras.
