Edgar Moreau Captivates Eurasian Stars with Powerful Cello Performance in Tashkent
Joined by the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan under the direction of distinguished Italian conductor Epifanio Comis, Moreau presented a programme featuring Alexey Shor's Cello Concerto No. 3 in D minor and Tchaikovsky's monumental Symphony No. 6 in B minor, "Pathétique", bringing together two contrasting yet deeply expressive musical works.
The evening opened with Shor's concerto, a contemporary three-movement composition which is renowned for its intricate combination of lyrical passages and virtuosic writing, providing an excellent showcase for Moreau's distinctive musical skillset, which has earned him widespread international recognition.
Following the concerto, the orchestra took centre stage for Tchaikovsky's celebrated Symphony No. 6, "Pathétique", the composer's final completed symphony and one of his most profound artistic works. Famed for its emotional intensity, unconventional structure, and deeply moving conclusion, the work takes listeners on an extraordinary journey through moments of tenderness, exhilaration, and melancholy.
Reflecting on the concert, Eurasian Stars President Konstantin Ishkhanov commented that "Eurasian Stars has always sought to bring exceptional musical experiences to audiences in Uzbekistan, and tonight's performance was another wonderful example of that commitment. Edgar Moreau is an extraordinary musician, and it was a great pleasure to welcome him to our festival alongside Maestro Comis. Presenting the music of Alexey Shor together with one of Tchaikovsky's greatest symphonies made for a particularly meaningful and moving evening."
With the festival now entering its final stages, Eurasian Stars 2026 has continued to reaffirm Tashkent's place as a destination for international classical music, bringing together internationally celebrated artists and outstanding Uzbek musicians in a series of carefully curated concerts.
The festival will continue on 18th October with a chamber music performance featuring Haik Kazazyan, Alexander Ramm, and Philipp Kopachevsky, before concluding the following evening.
