Artistic Director of Eurasian Stars Performs in Landmark Dubai Opera Production

The Artistic Director of Eurasian Stars Alibek Kabdurakhmanov recently took part in a major concert performance at Dubai Opera, presented by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, marking a significant moment in international cultural collaboration.

For the first time in Dubai, George Frideric Handel’s Tamerlano was presented in a powerful cross-cultural reimagining, blending European Baroque tradition with the rich musical heritage of Central Asia. Inspired by the historical figure of Amir Temur (Tamerlane), the production explored timeless themes of power, love, and destiny at the intersection of civilizations.

This large-scale staging brought together more than 160 artists, including the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, the State Choir, the Uzbegim Ensemble, and the Orchestra of National Instruments. Handel’s original orchestration was re-envisioned through the colors and timbres of Uzbek traditional instruments in a new musical version by renowned composer Kirill Richter, creating a unique sound world bridging East and West.

Directed by internationally acclaimed Italian director Stefano Poda, the production combined music, visual symbolism, choreography, and architecture into a unified artistic vision inspired by Timurid heritage. Under the baton of Alibek Kabdurakhmanov, Honoured Artist of Uzbekistan, the performance stood as a celebration of artistic dialogue and excellence.
